Hello,
You are suggested to get him some blood tests done like anti- CCP, CRP (
C-reactive protein), ESR. Some blood tests for RF, rheumatic factors, ANA, anti-nuclear
antibodies. These tests will help to confirm RA or OA. He should also be tested for gout, he should get joint fluid test and tests for uric acid, X-ray, ultrasound, DECT, etc. His treatment will depend on the pathology detected and the severity of the symptoms.
To get relief from pain he can take NSAIDs, after food. He should get his knees clinically examined to rule out abscess, baker's cyst, etc. He is getting
night sweats,
shortness of breath, pain chest on the right side. He has been a chronic smoker. He is advised to get clinically examined by a GP.
He should get lung function tests, sputum test, swab test and all required imaging tests done to detect any developing COPD, asthma,
lung cancer, etc. His treatment will depend on the pathology detected and severity of the symptoms. Get him treated at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
