Suggest Treatment For Pain In Back And Knee With Loss Of Control In Fingers

Hello, When I was 17 my knee started to swell and hurt had an MRI and was told that it was a torn meniscus. I now have hip pain. Back, neck, hip, and knee pain everyday. For a few years now my right thigh goes numb. Fingers on my right hand jump around by themselves making it hard to type or grab things when it happens. I have seen countless drs and no one seems to know why. I have done physical therapy in the passed with no help. I have 4 children and my dream is to be able to play with them be for they don t want to play with me anymore. I am in so much pain all the time and even though I push through it all the time with out meds (I don t think that the pain meds are fixing the prob. and they make me sleepy) I would like to go on a hike with them and not be thinking about how much I hurt. I don t know if anyone can help me but I don t know what else to do. Thank you for your time.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
Pain in the hip, knee, back and neck probably suggests a joint pathology or disease process affecting the joints.
There are number of diseases which affect the joints like rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, pseudogout etc.
You have mentioned that you sustained an injury in the knee due to meniscal tear.
This could be a reason for pain in knee joint.
However, there is no history of pain in other joints.
Thus, pain in other joints is probably due to a common pathological process.
Numbness is caused due to nerve related disorder.
Nerve disease can be due to nerve injury, nerve compression, nerve degeneration etc.
The abnormal movements of the fingers could be due to nerve related problem.

You need to consult a neurologist and orthopedician for clinical assessment, investigations and further management.

Thanks and take care
