Suggest Treatment For Pain In Foot Due To Injured Achilles Tendon

hi i went to A&E a few weeks back as i fell down the stairs and hurt my foot just above my heel the doctor said that i may have partly ripped my achilles tendon but gave me nothing for it just told me to take pain killers.we are now a good few weeks on and it really hurts me wen i walk even hurts when im resting it for ages after i dont want to waste a doctors time by going to see them if there is nothing they can do but i have read online that a plaster cast can help healing is this correct and should i go and see my doctor to ask for it thank you.
