My 24yr old daughter is suffering serious, chronic pain in her hands. Her fingertips have curled into her palms&she can no longer straighten them.My sister&I are Scleraderma patients;mine is the milder of the two. She,sister, says the pain in her hands has been the worst symptom, with flipping a light switch dreadful. Our beautiful daughter is currently in a Psych hospital&told by the docs, including a Neurologist who visited her, that this is not real but rather is Conversion Disorder.Water running over her hands exacerbates the pain&she must hold them above her head in the shower.A neurologist(out of her hospital)said Botox injections in the forearms would give her some relief,at which point she could be gradually splinted until her fingers straighten.Should she see an outside neurologist,or ought I to take her to a Rheumatologist?(We have health insurance on her, although the psych hosp is state run)
