Hi I recently injured my right knee while playing basketball. Didnt really notice anything at the time but a few days later i started feeling weird pain and sensations on the inner part of my knee where the mcl is. It feels unstable almost and doesn t exactly hurt but when i put pressure on it I feel some pain. I can walk and bend it fine but sometimes feels weak when I walk to much. Its been about 3 weeks and I havent played basketball since and have been taking it lightly. What do you think it is? What should I do?
You are suggested to get clinically examined by an Orthopedics or your treating Surgeon. You need to be examined and evaluated for isolated cartilage defects, injury, damage or developing arthritis as they have similar symptoms, including knee pain, swelling and loss of motion.
Stay at rest, you can take acetaminophen, one stat when needed to get relieve from pain. You are suggested to get evaluated to detect if your MACI is not affected. Ii is essential to identify cartilage damage immediately after its occurrence to start treatment promptly. This is very much crucial for its successful repair.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
