Suggest Treatment For Pain In Knee Of A Child Post Injury

My son hit his knee yesterday morning on our dresser drawer. He is struggling to walk but will crawl around. He says the pain is in his knee and was first saying the top of his foot. What can i do to help him fix this up? He is 3, he wont walk around without touching something comfortably... should i take him in? Its only when there is pressure i can bend his leg and move it all around while he is sitting.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to health care magic...

Your child having difficult movement...
Examination done along with look for swelling present or not ...
If joint movement affected and swelling present than x ray needs to be done to rule out fracture... There might be ligament or meniscus injury in leg that also should be looked for...

If no significant pathology found than its simple muscular strain for which antiinflammatory drug given..

Take care

Advise : orthopedic surgeon consultation for examination...
