Suggest Treatment For Pain In Lower Back, shoulder And Collar Bone Caused After Injury
I have a 14yr old son who plays football. He got hit in the lower back but the pain shot up to is up to his shoulder area with a small knot on collar bone. He can move his arm, but is sore. What can he do for this? He has his first game next week & doesn't want to miss it.
Hi, Thanks for writing to HCM. Well I understand your concern. Match is important at your son's age of 14 years, but health is equally important. Since you are saying that there is a small knot on his collar bone, that needs to be reviewed what it could be. Get an X-ray of collar bone done to rule out any fracture is there or not. If it is there, he needs to be given splint and should miss his match. If in case there is no fracture, the pain in lower back, shoulder and collar bone can be taken care of by analgesics like ibuprofen and paracetamol combination, to be taken twice daily for 3 days. It would be better if he takes physiotherapist's assistance in this regard. Let him give rest for 3 days and then start his practice gradually once he starts feeling better. Let him take care that there wouldn't be any injuries during the game as football is more prone for that. All the best.
