Suggest Treatment For Pain In Neck Of A Child

My 4 year old daughter has been complaining of pain in her neck, mostly to the touch. This has been going on for about 3 days, and I haven t noticed anything. Tonight she cried in pain from my accidentally touching it after her shower. I looked and felt and noticed a very large, (almost golf ball sized) hard lump. This is on her left side, under the ear and slightly behind it. I haven t noticed any change in temperature. Is this urgent? I m a worried Mommy!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Yes i think it is urgent. It might just be an enlarged lympg node due to an infection. Apply warm compress to it and give her paracetamol/acetaminophen for the pain. Bring her to a pediatrician. Did she get her vaccines for mumps?
