As it's cervical disc degenerative changes noted in the MRI I will advise to use cervical soft collar initially for stabilizing the cervical spine. Using hot water fermentation to reduce the inflammation of the muscles of the cervical spine. Post 2 weeks when the pain is lowered doing static neck exercise without a collar and then shoulder stability exercise and also strengthening exercises to improve the muscle function and joint stability.
Usually, in about 4 weeks of the time the symptoms are reduced to a bigger extent and also continuing the same will avoid the degeneration to progress.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
