Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. I woke up this morning with a strange pain right in the middle of my chest...I guess the best way to describe it is that it feels like it s directly below my breasts, exactly in the middle, underneath my ribs. I can breathe fine normally, however, if I take very large breaths in and out, it hurts. Also, whenever I move and my ribs move, it hurts in exactly that spot. Would you recommend I see a doc?
Hello. You seem to have a musculoskeletal pain related to any postural change or any trauma which was minor enough to go unnoticed. If you are a young person, non-smoker and donot have any risk factors for heart disease like Diabetes, hypertension, etc., then we can wait and watch and take analgesics if the pain is too bothersome (avoid NSAIDs analgesics for too long). However, if you do have any risk factors, it is always better to get yourself evaluated for any heart related conditions. Hope this helps. Regards, Dr Geeta
