Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Foot After A Fall

I was wearing lace up steel toe shoes and caught my right foot under a root and fell forward to the ground. Foot was in much pain. I hobbled for a week before seeing doctor and had x-rays. no broken bones. in the following days after the fall my foot was badly bruised on the inside side of foot and on top at toe and some below as well . Also was swollen. Has been three weeks and all the pain has not gone away. I still have to hobble and put most weight on outer part of my foot without bending big toe. If I already had a slight bunion and or arthritis could this have aggravated it . been at the same job 33 years and never hurt but if this could be related to making my foot have issues i have not had before I just want to make sure I get things fixed if needed and could be directed to job related incident. I have an appointment with specialist Monday . I have several pairs of shoes I wear and never had any pain walking at all before this happened. Or maybe I am YYYY@YYYY and things will mend and be all better soon. Any ideas or comments ?

Hello,

Pain in the foot after a certain trauma may take several weeks before it is completely resolved. It is important to prevent further damage, thus you will need to put bandages that strengthen the structures of the foot and also you may benefit from crouches to give enough time to the foot to heal.

Ibuprofen and paracetamol regularly, every 6 hours after food, will assist with the pain.

If no improvement in the next 2-3 weeks or any worsening you will need to see a doctor and possibly repeat the x-ray in different projections as the x-ray, in the beginning, may be negative while there might still be fractures.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
