Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Hand And Fingers While Having Osteoarthritis

I have had undiagnosed generalized hand and finger pain for nearly 15 years, which is getting worse and more frequent and lasts for weeks. My hands still hurt when I m busy and using them, but the pain is worse when I m dong nothing at all. The last few years I also get foot pain, which is also worse when doing nothing. Pain seems to be worse when weather is hot, but it can happen any time of year really. I get temporary relief running cold water over my hands when the weather is hot, but cannot stand to touch cold water in the winter. I am tired all the time. I have abdominal bloating and intermittent stabbing pains in the right hand side. I feel nauseous on and off throughout the day. I do have osteoarthritis in some finger joints, but this causes me very few problems compared with the broader more generalized hand pains. I have always had low blood pressure and poor balance and tend to trip a lot on flat ground. I have always had a low white blood cell count (also unexplained and dismissed as unimportant). Doctors do not believe I have rheumatoid arthritis as there are no blood indicators of it. . A recent trial of Prednisone relieved me of all my pains, which returned immediately after ceasing the tablets. I am desperate for a diagnosis. Can you please help with suggestions?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
