Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have inconsistent bone pain in my left femur, hip, and knee. Some days it's debilitating, other days barely noticeable. I am always lame and my left leg feels longer than my right, distorting my walk stride unless I concentrate. I am nearly 60 yrs old, but very fit horse riding and walking dogs daily. I generally have to do about 4 hrs hard physical work each day. I take Naproxen to help the pain. Can you advise please?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain in the hip and knee. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like osteoarthritis , bursitis , hip labral tear , sprains and strains , tendonitis , herniated disk or sciatica . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon again for proper checkup . Doctor may order CT scan , nerve conduction test or MRI to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe drugs like noval MR , methotrexate , or may recommend surgery of hip or disc . For now take proper rest and give proper rest to hip joint , apply warm compresses to hip and knee , do not walk fast and start its physical therapy .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
