Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Jaw While On Amoxicillin

Hi I had two of my back teeth extracted a week ago and my jaw still hurts up into my ear and down to my chin. I have been on amoxicillin for a week. There is also a salty taste coming from the extraction site as well. I've been back to the dentist but they don't seem worried about it. Should I be worried?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain if the pain has not yet subsided after one week of extraction and also salty taste coming from extraction site then the most probable chance is that there is infection at the extraction side leading to following symptoms..

There is also a possibility that any or both of the sockets are unhealed leading to Dry socket formation that occurs due to loss of blood clot at the initial stages..

Consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and in case of infection antibiotics can be repeated along with anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and antiseptic mouthwash gargles..

In case of dry socket Zinc oxide eugenol dressings will be done every alternate day till healing occurs..

Hope this helps..
