Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Legs When Suffering From Spondylosis

I was diagnosed with Spondylosis several years ago. Lately it is worsening. I m stooped over and lean to the right. Pain in my legs and back. Can t stand for more than a few minutes without pain. Force myself to walk 40 minutes 5 days a week. I m 80 years young. Had polio as a 9 year old child. Had Spinal Stenosis surgery about 5 years ago with minimal results. Can anything be done for this condition. Is surgery an option?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, if the pain had persisted even after surgery the. a repeat surgery may not be beneficial too however fresh MRI to look for the extent of skeletal damage and soft tissue compression may be assessed by a neurosurgeon to predict outcomes of surgery.

Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be helpful.

If pain is severe more potent analgesics like tramadol or gabapentin can be used. Physiotherapists review and avoiding heavyweights as well as using lumbar belt may be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
