Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Lower Back For A 46 Year Old Male

hello, for the past 4 days ive been having pain on the left side of my back, The lower to mid part . I have a hard time getting in bed or out, sitting , Its a sharp numbing pain , If I twist my body side to side I can feel it. Ive tried ice packs, 600mg of Ibuprofen 3x a day. Nothing is helping. Im 46 year old male. If it was a muscle strain wouldnt i be able to feel the muscle pain by touching it? Or get better when I use an Ice pack?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to muscle sprain.

For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen.

Do regular physical therapy.

In case of not getting relief you may require MRI back after orthopedician consultation.

Apply diclofenac gel or ointment locally.

Heating pads also helps.

Hope I have answered your query..
Let me know if I can assist you further.
