Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Lumbar And Right Hip Area

I have a pain at the base of my back, upper right hip area. Always on the right side. Not in the center. Pain comes and goes but usually occurs daily. Can usually be relieved by a few minutes rest . I am 70 years old; an avid biker, walker , go to the gym four days week. I am not over weight. Pain usually comes after walking mowing, weed eating. etc.

Hi.
I've gone through your query and I can understand your anxiety.

chronic lower back & hip Pain might be due to Degenerative disc or lumbar herniated disc disease, spinal deformities, Osteoarthritis etc.

I advice you to,
- take Analgesics & muscle relaxant twice or thrice daily
- Also have antacid one table spoon along with each dose of above tablets
-complete bed rest
-Hot fomentation to the back twice  daily
- Avoid lifting heavy weights, bending or twisting your Back & sitting for long time
- Lumbar corset should be used all the day
- physiotherapy

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
