Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I fell and bruised my rib cage last Saturday morning. X-rays were negative, but the pain is still severe. They gave me Naproxen; however, I only took 2 because it was upsetting my stomach. I now have blood in my urine and feel like I have a UTI. I haven t had a UTI in years, so what would cause this now? Do I need to seek medical treatment now?
Every time a patient has blood with urine, he needs to seek medical attention.
In your case, a possible cause of the bleeding with the urine can be due to the trauma itself. When you fell you might have also hurt the kidney in that side and the presence of blood in urine after the trauma indicates the need to rule out kidney damage.
Please see your local doctor as soon as possible and have the proper examinations.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zotaj Antoneta,
