Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Shoulder After Injury

About two weeks ago I hurt my shoulder. Ever since then I ve had a very intense burning sensation at the base of my neck/top of my shoulder. Been to the er twice and an orthopedic doctor who ordered an mri scheduled for Thursday. The pain is so intense I can barely move, my hand is swollen and feels like it s partially asleep and the pain is radiating up my neck and down my back. Perscription strength motrin is no longer working and I m starting to get dizzy from the pain. What if anything can be done before my mri to ease this pain..

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to the injury.

I see that you have already used Motrin without any results.

I suggest using prescription painkillers such as Hydrocodone or Oxycodone.

I also suggest immobilizing the area of the shoulder.

I recommend using cold compresses.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
