Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Upper Thigh After A Sport

I got a sharp pain on my upper thigh after kicking a soccer ball with force, couldn t walk for 5 mins. It got better after two weeks I went back to play and the same thing happened. I would like to know how long should I not play & is there anything I can do to decrease the time of injury? Thanks
