Suggest Treatment For Pain In Tooth Caused Due To Scaling And Root Planing
Today I had scaling and root planing on one tooth and I am experiencing a lot of pain. I was given 800mg of ibuprofen and 300mg of the antibiotic clindamycin. This is not helping with the pain, is there anything else I can take along with these meds to ease the pain?
As per your query treatment for pain in tooth caused after scaling and root planing is because you must have undergone this procedure in single sitting for whole oral cavity, it should be rather be quadrant wise and it should be done in at least 3-4 days. Due to massive tissue laceration inside gums and near roots your whole teeth are paining.
I would suggest you to rinse with warm salt water after every hour. Rinse your mouth with Perioguard. Take stronger pain killer such as paracetamolcodeine combination and Azithromycin 500 mg as you need higher dosage for pain and infection control. Do not drink hot liquids, don't smoke or chew at least 2-3 days. your symptoms will resolve after 3 days.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
