Suggest Treatment For Pain On Outside Of Foot

I get a sharp stabbing pain on the outside of my right foot in line with the arch. It lasts for just a few seconds and then is gone again. It doesn't seem to matter if I am walking, sitting or lying in bed. I wear steel toe capped boots with good ankle support for work and they are in good condition. Any ideas if this is something easily solved or if I should see my GP. Many thanks
