Hi,
There are several possible causes for pain on one side of the face, including dental issues, sinus problems, nerve disorders, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction. Given that you recently had
sinus surgery, the pain may be related to that procedure, but it is also possible that it is due to another underlying condition.
One possible cause of facial pain is
trigeminal neuralgia, which is a nerve disorder that can cause severe, shooting pain in the face. This condition is typically treated with medications such as anticonvulsants or tricyclic antidepressants, or in more severe cases, surgery.
If the pain is related to TMJ dysfunction, treatment may include jaw exercises,
physical therapy, and medications such as muscle relaxants or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
Consult a medical professional to know the cause of the pain and create a treatment plan. In addition to the treatments mentioned above, other interventions may be effective, such as
acupuncture or nerve blocks. Your doctor may also recommend a referral to a specialist, such as a
neurologist or an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
