In early September I experienced a mild hemorrhagic stroke affecting the left side of my body. I am receiving OT and PT; however, I fell more than once at the time of the stroke and vaguely remember hurting my foot. About 5-6 weeks later I realized that I injured the top of my left foot, with the injury wrapping around to the back of my ankle. The area is quite stiff and barely moves. The P.A at my doctor s office took time to hear me out about how the injury occurred, then took 6 x-rays . He said there is severe tendinitis, and a lot bruising of the bones, (No bruise marks show on the outside of my foot, although there are red areas.) There is definite pain when I try move any area where the stiffness is present. He recommended daily doing an icy water to warm water soak, alternating three times, keeping the foot elevated when sitting and lying down, wearing a support stocking, and having the physical therapist massage the foot. I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions you can add. Obviously, having this problem slows down the progress of healing from the stroke.
