I have a lump on my butt, because of its location I thought it might be a wallet bruise, but it is getting a little painful. It feels like there is something underneath. I tried to massage out the soreness and it felt like something popped and then got worse.

Hi,
It seems that there might be having some ingrown hair follicle infection and now might giving forming abscess.
Go for one antibiotic medicine and anti-inflammatory medicine course.
