Suggest Treatment For Painful And Swollen Foot After Injury

I twisted my foot on uneven road 3 days ago. The initial bump at the top left side of the left foot has flattened. But the swelling is spreading out to the whole foot. It is red and warm. Is this how it recovers? The pain is lesser by the day when I walk.
