My right foot/ankle has been progressively swelling for at least five days. Two days it began bruising. Now it s a little less swollen but bruised and mottled looking and extremely painful and tight to walk on. The tightness goes up to right under my knee.

Do you have Diabetes Mellitus, Cardiac problems, liver or renal insufficiency; since all these ailments cause swelling of the legs and feet. If so, the primary condition must be treated. You could also be having cellulitis of the leg and foot, which can cause all these symptoms. If this is the case, then a course of antibiotics, complete rest and elevation of the limb to reduse the swelling, graduated compression crepe bandage from toes to knees, will help.
