Suggest Treatment For Painful Bump On The Calf

About a month ago I banged my shin. I developed a lump, and a few days later, black & blue below the bump. The black & blue is gone, but the bump is still there, and I have started having pain in the calf. Should I just wait for it to finish healing, or do I need to get an x-ray?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query.

Well, I think that xrays wont be able to see this if this is soft tissue lesion. Only if this is bone growth, this could be seen. Second, it would be better to do ultrasound or mri scan of calf for more accurate visualization.
In most cases this is just a swollen lymph node which doesnt require any specific treatment. Also, considering your description this may be some other benign subcutaneous lesion such as lipoma, fibroma or atheroma and if there are no skin changes such as redness, pus discharge or pain and fever then you should not be worried since it can be easily surgically removed under local anesthesia.
Then it there are doubts it can be sent to the patohistologic analysis.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
