General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello there. I have read through your question and can understand your concern. Painful cramps in the legs can be due to varied reasons. It can be due to 1. Electrolyte imbalance. 2. Neuropathic pain. 3. Varicose veins. I would suggest you to get the following tests done 1. Serum electrolytes. 2. Doppler imaging of the leg veins. 3 Blood sugar to rule out diabetic neuropathy. Your treatment will depend on the diagnoses. I hope that answers your question. If you have any other questions please feel free to write.
