Suggest Treatment For Painful Cyst On Back Of Throat

My granddaughter has had a painful cyst on the back of her throat for about a month now. she has been seen by a dioctor and he has said ihe wants to watch it to see if it will self-drain as opposed to removing it surgery. How would you suggest draining the cyst naturally? It is very painful so as to cause her to not want to eat. She is now not eating sugar to the best of her ability to do that. She is 13, 5 6 and I don t know her current weight though when I saw her in Jan. she looked normal and healthy.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The treatment of a painful cyst in the throat can be with medication or surgery.
Therapeutic treatment may be performed on the cyst.
Antibiotics such as clindamycin, ampicillin may be used.
Steroid medication may also be performed.
Both medications can be taken on prescription, so you should consutl an ENT specialist before taking the treatment.
At home, I suggest to gargle with salty water and drink a lot of liquids.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
