Suggest Treatment For Painful Cyst On The Genitals

My husband has what feels like a cyst above his genitals, that I m pretty sure was an ingrown hair from shaving before. Is this normal & should he see a doctor? He said on a scale of 1-10 of pain it s a 6, but when you touch it or around it, it jumps to a 10. He has no stds, nothing. He s completely clean and has had no previous medical problems.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.
This seems to be a localized infection. Could be an infected sebaceous cyst or folliculitis.

I recommend :
-keep area clean and dry
-avoid pressure over the cyst
-a physician consult to make a proper diagnosis
-incision and drainage /excision of the customer if required.
-blood tests (complete blood count), if clinically indicated.
-antibiotics and pain meds
-if you have alum crystal at home, apply it over the area and around it with a little water. He may want to first apply it on his hand and use it to apply over affected area gently.

-lease do keep touching the are or try to pop it. See a doctor ASAP.
Hope this helps.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you both good health
