Suggest Treatment For Painful Lump Behind The Ear

Hello, Last night my 15 year old daughter noticed a tender lump behind her left ear only. Tonight she pointed out that it has grown almost twice in size and is very painful. She has also had a bad headache the past two days streaming from the front left side of her face in the frontal bone area and running down through the temple region to the ear. What is wrong?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Tender lump behind the left ear could be due to enlarged lymph node. Lymph node behind the ear can be enlarged due to infection or neoplasm. Associated pain favors an infectious process. I suggest you to consult an ENT specialist for clinical assessment of ear, nose and throat to look for probable cause of tender enlarged lymph node.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
