Suggest Treatment For Painful Red Lump Between Buttocks

Hello, I have a 1.5 x1/2 lump on my right buttock on the edge and kind of inside my buttcrack. It started hurting about 2 days ago and seems to have grown in size, it is very hard to the touch and pretty painful. The area around it very red. Hurts to sit and bend certain ways. Just wondering if I should go to a hospital tomorrow or schedule a doctors appointment. Thanks!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to pilonidal sinus. If you send a picture of it then it will be more helpful.Antibiotic therapy and hot fomentation will be helpful. But if there is no improvement then surgical correction will be needed. It is better to have a consultation with a general surgeon to rule out the condition.
Hope this may help you . Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
