Suggest Treatment For Painful Stab In The Vagina

The other day, I was sitting on my couch when I had this painful stab in my vagina. It had only lasted for a few seconds and it was gone. I then went to the bathroom and noticed that I had started my period. I have never experienced that kind of pain before getting my period. Is that normal?
