Suggest Treatment For Painful Swollen Bruising On Shin After Injury

Hi. I dropped a TV from ceiling height onto my shin bone (which was floor height). The corner of the TV hit my shin full force and it was immediately very painful- now it is swollen and bruised and still very painful. I can walk on it but after I do, the pain comes in waves once I lay down again. Just wondered if I should go and get it checked?

Hello,

It is necessary to have some rest for a couple of days and use ice packs locally. If the swelling doesn't improve and you can not walk in the next days, I would recommend performing a shin X-ray study and consulting with your doctor for a physical exam.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
