Suggest Treatment For Painful Throat Along With Swollen Tonsils

26 y/o female. My throat all the sudden became very dry and started hurting. Swallowing my saliva is difficult and painful. A few swollen lymph nodes in my throat. Tonsils very red and slightly swollen. A few white spots ok tonsils and back of throat. Area around tonsils very red. Back of throat has a few white streaks as well. Head ache and a weird chest pain on left side. I thought maybe strep but I m not running fever. Sore throat just started ab 45 minutes ago. I do not have a spleen, so I wasn t sure if this was something I should worry about or if was more than likely just a sore throat. I know may sound trivial but when I get it usually escalates fast and I get put on hospital. I don t have time for that.

Hello,
You are describing signs of a strep infection. You need to be tested. Do not delay a simple swab tests at your doctor's office when you report you often have symptoms that escalate quickly. Just because you do not have a fever, does not mean you do not have strep or other bacterial infection that can be controlled with antibiotics. Viral will have to heal and you can treat symptoms to reduce discomfort. You already have a compromised medical history and this needs to be reviewed.
Take some antiinflavmegication such as Advil or Motrin. Keep well hydrated. Avoid irritants to the throat and rinse with warm salt water. Diet should include balanced vitamins and adequate vitamin B12.
Thank you for your inquiry.
