Suggest Treatment For Palpitation While Having Anemia

Hi, I have iron deficiency anemia from very heavy periods (fibroids). Lately during periods I ve been getting sudden palpitations/sinus tachcardia, lightheaded, short of breath and chest/back pain. Blood pressure also spikes. Episodes last about 10-30 minutes. I ve been to ER 3 times and although my hemoglobin is always around 10.4-10.9 when these attacks happen and always during active bleeding, ER says the anemia isn t low enough to be causing symptoms. It is terrifying. They tell me it s probably panic attacks. Cardiologist is having me do some tests (event monitor, stress echo) but EKG s are always normal except for sinus tach. Can mild anemia do this?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Mild anemia should not cause these symptoms though everyone is different.
It would also cause a decrease not increase in blood pressure.
You should consider iron replacement to help increase your hemoglobin levels.

The cardiologist would be able to rule out if it is related to heart disease, you should also rule out hyperthyroidism which is high levels of thyroid hormone.

I hope this helps
