In the past four years, I've had increasing problems with palpitations in my upper legs. They don't involve pain, but can be annoying and can keep me up most of the night. Episodes lasting a few days can be triggered by a few hours of strenuous exercise, or by foods I eat. It's hard to pinpoint which foods now set it off, which almost anything will (from a granola bar to a bag of chips), but early on, it seemed only a large Chinese meal would cause an episode. I figured it was the MSG and simply stopped eating Chinese, which caused the problem to go away for a couple of years. I do have a family history of diabetes; both my father and brother are diabetic; I was screened for diabetes 2 years ago and was OK. I will be screened again next again: it's taken the doc a while to pencil me in.
I was wondering if you think this sounds like diabetes, or something else. Right now, I am trying to control the problem by eating bland foods, but that may be causing a diet imbalance. Any suggestions?
