Suggest Treatment For Panic Attacks And Depression

Hi, I am going through a very bad break up with my ex girlfriend who I have now cut contact with. I was with her for 10 months. Previously I was in a long term, long distance relationship which ended and I found very hard to get over. I probably didn't get over my previous relationship as there was 6 months in between.

Now as with my previous break up I am having regular panic attacks, am vomiting every morning, no appetite, can't sleep and feel depressed etc. I would really like to try and get on top of this, any ideas?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for choosing HEALTH CARE MAGIC for your health related queries

You had breakup with your girlfriend and developed regular persistent panic attacks, vomiting, loss of appetite, depressed feeling etc symptoms. As these symptoms got precipitated after breakup so most likely these symptoms are occurring due to adjustment disorder and anxiety symptoms. In most of individuals after some psychological trauma such symptoms are seen and they usually go by own or by relaxation exercises, yoga, progressive muscle relaxation exercises. These methods help to reduce the symptoms and give sense of wellbeing. Try to divert your attention away from your past, spend your time in doing constructive activities.
If symptoms remain persistent then consult a psychiatrist for treatment. Medicines like SSRIs and SNRIs are used in treatment. Short term use of these drugs will help to reduce anxiety and panic attacks.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
