Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello i am a 30 year old smoker, severe panic attacks, a normal abnormal ekg, clean heart cath done seven months ago, and now I am getting attacks again that make me think that I am having a heart attach. I get on and off pain in my left arm and hand, acid reflux which makes it all worse. I am scared to death that I am going to have a heart attack I even ended up in the ER the other day and my ekg has not changed and my heart enzymes are normal.
I went through your details. Once you are cleared for any heart related diseases, then you should be relaxed. You should trust your doctor and should not indulge in obsessive thinking about your health. Passion towards your work, games etc keeps you busy and provides you the necessary exercise to keep you fit.
Panic attacks are due to some underlying anxiety disorders. Those anxiety disorders need to be understood and managed. Please consult a psychologist who should help you to identify your anxiety disorders. Then the treatment for management starts. Don't worry.
