I am contacting you to get some suggestion from you about the problem of my father-in-law and about possible treatments related to the problem in Nimhans. The name of the patient is Manik lal Kumar and his age is 62 years. He has been admitted to the neurology department of Peerless Hospital, kolkata since 5th Feb, 2011. The patient is suffering from paralysis of both the lower limbs. In the early morning of 4th, the patient suddenly felt severe pain in waist and legs. At first he was treated with a painkiller injection in a local hospital and he was moved to Peerless the next day. According to doctors, MRI report shows inflammation of spinal cord or a case of myelitis (probably L4 and L5 area). The doctor has given 5 steroid injections and later steriod tablets. Now he is being treated with physiotherapy. Blood test, lumber puncture test were performed with no abnormal outcomes of the tests. But the lower limbs still show complete paralysis with no improvement at all. Urination, defecation and sensation of lower limb are out of order.
I shall be highly obliged if you kindly provide me your valuable suggestion and any information of treatments that can be performed in Nimhans.
