Suggest Treatment For Peeling Skin On Tongue After Taking Flecainide

I am a 74 year old female who had a heart ablation recently due to a very irregular heart beat and skips. I was subsequently put on Flecainide 100 mg. twice a day. Since then I have had peeling skin on my tongue , only on the right side. It looks as though the layers are quite deep, as that part looks raw and red, but is not painful . Do not know what it could be, Do you ? YYYY@YYYY

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of peeling skin on tongue after taking Flecainide which seems to be due to uncommon and minor adverse effect of this medication. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit cardiologist once and get it examined and try alternative course of medication. till then you should take zinc supplements in diet along with antiinflammatory medication. Drink plenty of fluids and avoid hot, spicy and sharp substances. You can apply corticosteroids directly on the tongue and maintain hygiene with antiseptic mouthwash.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
