Suggest Treatment For Pepper Taste In Throat And Coughing

For months I have had a burning pepper taste in throat. I burp and cough very often. It comes from deep down, often without warning. Eating or not eating makes no difference. I am suffering now and all I have eaten is a bowl of Cherrios, milk and banana 3 hrs ago. I drink water all day long. Nothing soothes the pepper burning. Yesterday I had oatmeal. Still had the pepper taste and burning afterward. I bloat every night and most times have acid reflux. What is the problem?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is likely that it is related to acid reflux.

This is treated by lifestyle changes and medication.

Lifestyle changes involve: (1)small frequent meals instead of large meals
(2)waiting 2 hours after eating before laying down
(3)avoiding spicy/citrus/fried/fatty foods.

This includes limiting tomatoes, onions, caffeine

(4)weight loss of any excess weight

There is medication available that can help you. Examples include nexium, prevacid, prilosec

I hope this helps
