Suggest Treatment For Peripheral Neuropathy In The Finger After Injury
I believe I have some form of peripheral neuropathy, more specifically, axonotmesis on one of my pointer fingers. Tinel s sign was positive at the injury site shortly after the injury, and I experience a variety of neuropathic abnormalities at the injury site such as allodynia and paresthesia. Additionally, there is a peculiar symptom that I have not found anywhere. My injured finger wrinkles faster and more intensely underwater, and will not unwrinkle for a couple of hours even after being taken out of water. Any clarification regarding this injury would appreciated, such as recovery time and if these symptoms match axonotmesis.
This is often caused by peripheral nerve damage. Injury might have injured your peripheral nerve. Nerve damage is almost always permanent as nerve tissue does not grow back easily. One can only prevent further damage by identifying its cause and taking treatment, but the damaged nerve cannot be repaired. There is a window period of a few days between symptoms and the nerve being permanently damaged. Thus, if symptoms are treated during this period, the permanent damage to nerves can be avoided. There is a role of methylcobalamine in treatment of peripheral nerve damage. Advice 1. Methylcobalamin 500 mcg once daily per oral for 3 months 2. Investigations – blood sugar (fasting & postprandial) Thanks
