General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It looks like you are suffering from Chronic Venous Insufficiency. CVI can be hereditary. Obesity, Smoking, history of deep vein thrombosis or neglected/untreated Varicose veins may trigger it.

You can take pain relievers like Combiflam(combination of Paracetamol& ibuprofen). Keep leg elevated on a stool while sitting & on a pillow when on bed.

Get detected about the pathology with a vascular or duplex USG. Get evaluated, get treated. Your treatment (with medications or surgery)will depend upon the degree or the severity of the pathology detected.

Diuretics & Pentoxifylline are effective, wear compression stockings. Surgeries like Sclerotherapy, vein repair, vein transplant or vein bypass are effective.

Sometimes, Endovenous thermal ablation effectively closes the affected vein.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
