Suggest Treatment For Persistent Arm Pain

it has been about 1 year since I did something to my bicep muscle. It doesn t get worse but it doesn t get better either. My doctor said it would take about 1 year to heal but this is getting frustrating. i am a female 81 if that makes a difference and i am always doing something that i guess I shouldn t do at my age. it doesn t hurt when I don t use my arm if that means anything. thank you Jacqueline Sanet

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You may want to consider physiotherapy to see if this helps relieve your discomfort. The physiotherapist would be able to go through exercises that may help and may also be able to employ other methods such as massages, stretching etc to help relieve the discomfort. Your doctor may be able to refer you to a therapist in your area.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
