Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cough And Irritation In Throat

I have been suffering from cough since an year or so. I feel an irritation in my throat and keep coughing. It gets aggrevated when I go to bed at night. I consulted 2 doctors already and was said that I am allergic to dust. I am prescribed with an inhaler Aercorte which I am kind of hesitant to use. Can you please suggest me something?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have persistent cough and irritation in throat which is due to chronic lung infection or bronchitis. But it can also occur due to allergic condition or acid reflux condition . I would suggest you to visit pulmonologist once and get it examined.

You should go for pulmonary function tests and x-ray chest as well to check exact level of infection. Start treatment only after proper prescription. Drink plenty of water. Take hot milk rich in turmeric as it will booster immunity. Keep your head elevated while sleeping and eat atleast one hour before going to bed.

You need inhaled bronchodilators and antihistamine drug.You should use mist humidifiers in room. You should take cough expectorants as well. Doctor may also refer you to allergy specialist for allergic condition or gastroenterologist for acid reflux.
