Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cough With Sore Throat

My husband has had a persistent cough for 3 years now, it is getting worse, he now feels fluey a lot of the time and has a sore throat and his body is aching from all the coughing. He can t sleep as he is constantly coughing. They have found some scarring on the lungs and he is waiting for a camera down his throat. He has had endless courses of antibiotics, inhalers, steroids,nothing at all eases it. They have advised it is not lung cancer. He is at the end of his tether. We have tried air purifiers. He has had blood tests and allergy tests and everything is clear.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of persistent cough with sore throat which is due to chronic lung infection or due to impaired immunity . Need not to worry much. I would suggest you to visit pulmonologist once and get it examined. You should go for pulmonary function tests, blood tests and x-ray chest as well to check exact level of infection. Start treatment only after proper prescription. You need inhaled bronchodilators and antihistamine drug.Doctor may also refer you to ENT specialist for sore throat , as may be caused due to bacterial or viral infection. You should use mist humidifiers in room. You should take cough expectorants as well. Take hot milk rich in turmeric as it will boost immunity.
