Suggest Treatment For Persistent Diarrhea While On Diphenoxylate

went to a hospital walk-in clinic on Friday and was prescribed Diphenoxylate/Atropine tablets, 2 tablets 4 times a day. The pharmacy advised me that this is a high doze and I should be careful of side effects. I have not taken the medication yet. My diarrhea condition has lasted for 8 days now. The pharmacy suggested I take just one pill. What should I do.

Hi,

2 tablets of atropine may be used if needed but the pharmacist is right that the dose is a bit more and cate is needed.

This is a good idea to start with one tablet for a few days, if it helps, no need to take 2 tablets then. If it does not help you may increase it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
