Suggest Treatment For Persistent Ear Pain

Hello, I have had a very painful earache going on 2 days now,so far no fever. In my left ear,the pain seems to radiate of all places up the left side of my head and across my scalp.I also have bouts of pain in left cheekbone.Havent seen my internist yet,the pain becomes so severe I actually have to wear a license on my head for relief.Any thoughts?

Hi,

As per your complain severe pain in ear that is going on since 2 days and radiating to head and scalp can be due to a severe form of ear infection leading to severe pain caused due to inflammation of nerve endings. You should consult an ENT expert and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Otoscopy can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.

You can be advised a course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen along with antibiotic and analgesic ear drops. You should avoid excessive exposure to water like swimming.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks and regards,
Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora
